Tottenham player ratings vs Vissel Kobe: How Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall performed together in midfield

Tottenham Hotspur secured their third victory of pre-season in a 3-2 win over J-League side Vissel Kobe on Saturday.

Goals from Pedro Porro, Heung-min Son and Mikey Moore sealed the win for Ange Postecoglou against a side 24 games into their season.

Tottenham will now move on to Seoul, South Korea for two friendlies against a K-League XI and then bayern Munich.

But here is how the Spurs players got on against Vissel Kobe on Saturday…

Guglielmo Vicario – 6

Returning from his summer break, Guglielmo Vicario had a fairly quiet afternoon in Tokyo. However, there was one moment when he got caught in no man’s land after starting to come out for a cross he was never going to get.

Pedro Porro – 9

Against QPR, Pedro Porro‘s end product was really lacking. In Tokyo, the right-back continued his fine goalscoring run from last season.

Porro turned his man inside out before then calmly slotting the ball home. The defender has had some critics recently, he’ll hope they were watching.

Emerson Royal – 6

Emerson Royal recovered well against QPR after a shaky display against Hearts. Against Vissel Kobe, the Brazilian did have the odd moment but was otherwise solid.

Talks remain ongoing with AC Milan over a possible deal for Emerson.

Archie Gray – 8

Another solid display from Archie Gray in a Spurs shirt. The 18-year-old was constantly busy stepping into midfield. He also started off the move for Porro’s goal.

Moved into the number six role in the second half and looked at ease in another brilliant showing.

Ben Davies – 6

Returning from injury, Ben Davies took to the pitch for the first time after his 10 year anniversary at the club. A decent performance to mark his return.

Pape Matar Sarr – 5

A moment of madness from Pape Matar Sarr led to the opening goal with the midfielder losing concentration to provide Yuya Osako with the ball on a plate just yards out.

Perhaps at risk of trying to make up for his error for the remainder of the game.

Yves Bissouma – 8

Some delightful flicks and turns from a man brimming with confidence on the back of his first-ever Spurs goal last time out.

James Maddison – 6

Not his best of displays and was withdrawn at half time.

Dejan Kulusevski – 8

The Swede started the game up front as the lone striker with Dejan Kulusevski yet to start a pre-season game out on the wing.

And the 24-year-old has provided yet another stunning flick which this time resulted in the assist for Porro’s goal.

Heung-min Son – 8

The poster boy for Asian football, Heung-min Son, was constantly looking to make something happen. Put in a stunning cross for Brennan Johnson but was denied the assist through an even better tackle.

He got off the mark in pre-season with a fine finish early on inside the second half.

Brennan Johnson – 7

Johnson had one opportunity to find the back of the net from Son’s cross but was stopped by a perfect intervention.

However, he put in his own brilliant cross for Son’s goal.

Substitutes

Lucas Bergvall – 8

What a special player Spurs look to have on their hands with Lucas Bergvall. As well as looking physically imposing, Bergvall is showing the maturity of a player beyond his years.

Came on at half time and played in midfield alongside Gray with the Swede providing a real attacking threat.

Oliver Skipp – 5

At fault for Kobe’s equaliser with a really poor effort at making a tackle just minutes after being handed the captain’s armband.

Jamie Donley – 7

Came on in his now-usual position of left-back this pre-season and curled an effort against the post. Provided a late assist for the winner with a great run down the left side.

Mikey Moore – 8

Denied his second goal in as many games by a block with the arm or a Kobe defender with the goalkeeper well beaten.

A constant threat and got his reward with a tap in from a cross by Donley. What a talent Spurs have in Mikey Moore.

Manor Solomon – 6

Tried his best to prove a threat down the left flank, but was outshone by the younger players who came on.

Brandon Austin – 5

Couldn’t do anything with Kobe’s second goal of the evening.

Alfie Devine – 8

Came on and, within minutes, almost provided a brilliant assist for Will Lankshear. Proved a constant threat with a fierce shot on goal as well as another dangerous cross.

Djed Spence – 6

Fairly quiet in an attacking sense but the effort was visibly there. Another solid showing from a man clearly out to impress.

Will Lankshear – 6

Held the ball up well. Nearly got on the end of Devine’s cross but a decent showing from Will Lankshear.

Ashley Phillips – 4

Picked up a yellow card for a really rash challenge to stop a Kobe counter attack.

George Abbott – 5

A fairly quiet display which was overshadowed by the likes of Moore.
