Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney during the summer transfer window.
According to Football Transfers, Tottenham are now preparing an offer for the 28-year-old striker and it remains to be seen whether Brentford are prepared to sanction his departure.
The report adds that Tottenham are expected to offer around £40 million for the striker and Brentford are unlikely to accept the opening bid.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Toney has established himself as one of the best strikers in the league and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the North London club. Tottenham have missed a clinical presence upfront since the departure of Harry Kane and they will have to bring in a quality striker this summer.
Ivan Toney could improve Tottenham next season
The England international is certainly good enough to play for them, and he could improve them in the final third. Apart from his ability to score goals, the England international is very effective at holding up the ball and bringing others into the play. Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were keen on the player initially as well, but they seem to have cooled their interest in the 28-year-old.
Toney has just one year left on his current deal and Brentford will be under pressure to sell him this summer. They will not want to lose a player of his quality on a free transfer next summer. It makes sense for them to sell him now while he still retains some value.
