Tottenham set to bag fee as Ryan Mason nears exit

Anderlecht “must” pay a fee to Tottenham to acquire Ryan Mason’s services as their new head coach, according to HLN.

The Belgian newspaper reported via their website on Tuesday (8 October) that Anderlecht are keen on hiring Mason as their new boss.

Mason is now inching closer to taking the reins at the Brussels outfit, with talks between the two clubs progressing.

As per the outlet, Tottenham “would not want want to stand in the way” as Mason looks to land his first job as a manager.

Ryan Mason eager to leave Tottenham for Anderlecht

Mason has been at the north London club since beginning his coaching career after hanging up his boots in 2018.

The 33-year-old also stepped in as an interim manager on two occasions before joining Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff last year.

He oversaw a total of 13 games for Tottenham, leading the side to wins on six occasions.

Having spent six years at the Premier League club, Mason believes he is ready for a managerial job.

A move to Anderlecht is therefore enticing for the former midfielder, who has been in talks to leave Spurs.

HLN reported that Mason is “very much looking forward to the challenge” at the Belgian club, who are without a manager after sacking Brian Riemer in September.

The managerial job at Anderlecht could be the right one for Mason as it is away from the spotlight of the top five European leagues.

He could follow in the footsteps of former Premier League defender Vincent Kompany, who started his managerial career at Anderlecht before eventually becoming the Bayern Munich manager.
