Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has urged Tottenham to “cash in” on striker Richarlison before the transfer deadline later this month.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the 27-year-old is “unsettled” at Spurs and his time at the club has “run its course”.
Richarlison has been widely linked with a potential Saudi Pro League switch in this summer window after flattering to deceive in his time at Tottenham so far.
He netted 12 goals in 31 games last term after hitting just three goals in the 2022-23 campaign – his first at the club.
Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs transfer team are searching for a new striker this summer as they vie to bring in a long-term replacement for departed talisman Harry Kane.
Richarlison is under contract until June 2027.
Richarlison ‘unsettled’ at Tottenham – ‘the fans haven’t taken to him’, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There is a potential he stays.
“But I don’t think it would be right. He doesn’t seem settled, the fans haven’t taken to him.
“He’s very much a confidence striker like many are.
“It would be best for all parties if he were to move on.
“Of course, he’s a professional player and he will do a great job in terms of effort – I have a very high opinion of him.
“But I think his time at Spurs has run its course. They can cash in if the Saudi offer is there.
“They need something to get the fans excited again. Harry Kane’s gone, they need someone who can be that idol figure up front.
“They need a new front player, they’ve got to make a big move.”
