Vaclav Cerny continued his brilliant form for Rangers as Leanne Crichton was stunned by the loanee during the first half against Motherwell on Saturday (10 August).
The 26-year-old registered a vital assist for Cyriel Dessers as the Gers claimed a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Kyiv in a Champions League qualification match on Tuesday 6 August, and he nearly had a similar impact at Hampden Park.
Scott Wright had an opportunity to open the scoring thanks to a pinpoint pass from Cerny, though goals from Dessers and the man himself helped take a 2-1 lead into the break.
Speaking via BBC Sportscene on Saturday (10 August, 3:14), Crichton said: “Tell you what, you need to tune in tonight to Sportscene later to see this pass from Vaclav Cerny for Scott Wright.
“It’s Pass of the Day, Pass of the Week. It’s an unbelievable find, and the run from Wright is brilliant. He takes a touch beyond the ‘keeper and he has to score.”
Vaclav Cerny is quality new transfer at Rangers
Football fans are often reminded not to fall in love with loan players, with Brighton’s Abdallah Sima being a prime example of that last season.
Cerny certainly has the potential to become that kind of player, with a goal and an assist in three matches, though only one of those from the start.
The winger seems to have underwhelmed for his parent club, Wolfsburg, back in the Bundesliga, scoring just five goals since arriving from FC Twente last summer.
That does not look to be the case at Ibrox, however, with the 26-year-old producing a lot of quality on the pitch, which has already benefited his teammates against tough opposition.
A few eyebrows were raised after the Gers were linked with the Czechia international, but after his first handful of cameos for Philippe Clement’s side, it is certainly a move that is working out for all parties.
In other Rangers news, Tommy Conway is closing in on a £5million transfer amid the Gers pursuit of a deal with Bristol City.
