Julie Fleeting was wowed live on Sky Sports as Kirsty Howat scored the opening goal for Rangers Women against Celtic Women.

The Old Firm clash took place at Broadwood Stadium on Thursday 3 October with the Gers taking away just a point in a frustrating 2-2 draw against their rivals.

Jo Potter’s side started with a bang as the the Light Blues’ number nine slammed home a volley less than five minutes in which left Fleeting in awe while live on Sky Sports Main Event.

She said: “What an incredible finish from Kirsty Howat. It’s an unbelievable strike. The goalkeeper has absolutely no chance at all.”

The Gers have narrowly extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 after this draw with their oldest rivals.

Both sides had their chances to take the lead with the home side doing the better and as a result, it can be said that they deserved a better result.

It was a tougher defence to play against than usual with them even scoring nine earlier in the campaign against Queen’s Park.

Sometimes a moment of quality is needed on these sorts of occasions and that is what Potter got through Howat against her former side.

The initial corner wasn’t ideal but the 27-year-old certainly made use of it in the end with a thumping effort past Kelsey Daugherty in the Celtic goal.

The Light Blues failed to hold out their lead to win, in a call back to them after suffering a string of defeats in the Champions League against Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

After these results, three wins were secured and they narrowly missed out on making it four after a hard-fought Old Firm draw.

In other Rangers news, Scott Allan has made a defensive claim ahead of the Europa League clash against Lyon.
