Vaclav Cerny Rangers announcement mooted after Philippe Clement transfer admission - report

Rangers could announce a loan extension for Vaclav Cerny in January, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reports [25 December] that the Gers could opt to keep a hold of the Czechia international for longer, with his loan deal expiring at the end of the season.

Philippe Clement has admitted that the Light Blues are unable to afford a permanent deal for the 27-year-old, who joined the Glaswegian outfit in the summer from Wolfsburg.

The Bears were unable to agree an option to buy the forward and could cost around £6 million–£10 million.

Cerny has been one of the best players at the Gers this season, scoring and assisting some crucial goals.

Clement has heavily relied on the Czech national on the right-hand side of the Light Blues’ attack.

The 27-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Bears, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists.

Rangers would’ve been in a worse position had it not been for Cerny, and the winger has been able to silence his early season critics.

The forward was on the scoresheet once again for the Gers as they beat Dundee 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership on 21 December.

Clement has found the formula for getting the best out of his squad, and opinions about the Belgian manager at Ibrox are beginning to change.

Cerny has been a significant factor in helping the 50-year-old avoid the sack at the Light Blues, and hopefully, the Czech will extend his stay at the Glaswegian outfit for the foreseeable future.

In other Rangers news, talks have been mooted with Wolfsburg regarding the on-loan forward’s asking price.
