'Very disappointing' - King tears into big-money Tottenham duo after Crystal Palace defeat

Bryan King has torn into Dominic Solanke and Richarlison after Tottenham lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Sunday (27 October).

The ex-Spurs scout doesn’t think either player did anything to make the Eagles nervous.

Solanke played the full 90 minutes for Ange Postecoglou’s side while Richarlison was introduced midway through the second half. However, both players managed just one shot off target between them (Sofascore).

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham Newsdoesn’t think either player has done enough this season.

“We had £130million worth of strikers on the pitch,” King said.

“Did you see anything that would make Palace worry about two supposedly prominent strikers? I certainly didn’t.

“I wouldn’t say Solanke was a waste of money because it’s pretty early in the season. However, at the moment, neither Solanke nor Richarlison look ready to win Tottenham matches. It is very disappointing.

“I don’t think either of them had a chance after Richarlison came onto the pitch. Richarlison wasn’t exactly a big danger against AZ Alkmaar either.

“As for Solanke, I’m still trying to work out how he has done enough to warrant an England place. The only goals he has scored have been tap-ins.”

Dominic Solanke and Richarlison struggle for Tottenham v Crystal Palace

Solanke and Richarlison are two of Spurs’ most expensive signings ever.

Therefore, considering both players were on the pitch while Tottenham were chasing an equaliser against Palace, yet couldn’t manage an attempt on target between them, Postecoglou will be concerned.

Spurs were awful at Selhurst Park, and despite the Australian making a triple change midway through the second half, nothing changed.

Therefore, it appears as though there is a lot of work to be done on the training ground, particularly with Solanke and Richarlison.

In other Tottenham news, Chelsea and Postecoglou’s side both want to sign an Arsenal player.
