Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg has proven to Ange Postecoglou that he deserves another chance at Tottenham.

Postecoglou is not the biggest fan of Hojbjerg. That is pretty obvious for everybody to see considering the midfielder only managed eight Premier League starts last season.

From being a regular at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and starting nearly every match, Hojbjerg suddenly found himself on the outskirts of the first team after Postecoglou arrived in North London.

That can’t have been easy for the 28-year-old, but he hasn’t let his club troubles impact him on the international stage.

In fact, Hojbjerg is arguably performing better than ever for Denmark.

He has three goals in his last three appearances for his country and was once again at the centre of all things positive as Denmark recorded a 3-1 win over Norway in their friendly on Saturday (8 June).

Ahead of the 2024 UEFA European Championship getting underway in Germany on 14 June, the various nations competing have been taking part in friendlies as part of their preparations.

And Denmark will be full of confidence heading into the tournament after winning both of their fixtures this week, having beaten Sweden 2-1 on Wednesday (5 June) before their victory over Norway.

Against Sweden, Hojbjerg scored after just two minutes and went on to win five ground duels, make three tackles and complete 86 per cent of his passes (Sofascore).

And he was arguably even more impressive against Norway.

His goal arrived in the 12th minute on this occasion as he completed the full 90 minutes.

During the match, he completed 97 per cent of his passes, was accurate with 100 per cent of his long balls forward, made three total tackles, and won six ground duels.

Hojbjerg was dribbled past on three occasions in each match, but that shouldn’t be of too much concern.

One of the main issues with Hojbjerg is whether or not he fits into Postecoglou’s attacking system, but the Dane has proved with his goalscoring form that he can adapt.

And before the club go out and splash the cash on a new midfielder, Postecoglou might be wise to offer Hojbjerg one final Tottenham opportunity in pre-season.
