Ange Postecoglou must avoid starting Wilson Odobert when Spurs host Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (15 September).

Postecoglou’s side will once again be heading back to London from St James’ Park in a dreadful mood.

Despite dominating much of the match, Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United on Sunday (1 September).

It leaves the North London outfit with four points after three matches played, having lost once, drawn once and won once.

Spurs had lost their previous two matches at St James’ Park 6-1 and 4-0. However, despite a third consecutive defeat, things were different this time, Postecoglou’s side should have won the match, but they were wasteful in the final third.

One of the players who was particularly wasteful was Odobert. The 19-year-old struggled against the Magpies, and Postecoglou would therefore be wise to take him out of the team for the visit of their North London rivals.

Spurs were without Dominic Solanke and Richarlison against Newcastle, which left Postecoglou limited with his options going forward.

He opted to go with Dejan Kulusevski through the middle while playing Son and Odobert out wide.

And after watching Odobert’s display, Postecoglou will hope he has either Solanke or Richarlison available to him once again when Arsenal visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As per Sofascore, the Frenchman was unsuccessful with both of his dribble attempts and missed one big chance, perhaps Spurs’ biggest of the match, blazing over as Brennan Johnson picked him out at the far post.

In addition, he completed just 83 per cent of his passes, with one of those key, and was accurate with zero per cent of his crosses into the box while giving possession away 11 times.

Defensively he also struggled, winning just 50 per cent of his ground duels and being dribbled past twice.

Odobert is only 19, and he will no doubt improve, but when Arsenal come to town Postecoglou will want to have some more experienced heads on the pitch.

In other Tottenham news, one player on loan from the club proved he has Premier League potential after what he did yesterday.
