Ange Postecoglou would be wise to replace Tottenham ace Timo Werner at half-time against Manchester United.

Postecoglou’s side made a dream start in Manchester, with Micky van de Ven running the length of the pitch spectacularly before teeing up Brennan Johnson for a tap-in.

It is the Welshman’s fourth goal in as many games, the best run of his career, as he continues to hit back at his critics.

He almost grabbed a brace, striking the post midway through the first half as the visitors continued to dominate the match.

Things got better for Postecoglou as Bruno Fernandes was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on James Maddison moments before half-time.

However, they couldn’t find the second goal before the break, and if Postecoglou wants his side to be more clinical in the final third, he needs to axe Werner.

Werner has been the weak link in Spurs’ front three at Old Trafford, failing drastically to replace Son Heung-min, who was nowhere to be seen on Sunday.

As per Sofascore, the German has missed one big chance, failing to add a second when he was sent through one-on-one with Andre Onana.

In addition, he completed just 50 per cent of his dribbles and 73 per cent of his passes, although one of those was key.

He failed to provide an accurate cross into the box or long ball forward, having one attempt at each and won just 25 per cent of his ground duels.

Finally, he gave possession away nine times. Therefore, with these stats in mind, Postecoglou must be considering a change.

His side have dominated and have the perfect opportunity to take three points from Old Trafford against 10-man Manchester United. However, Werner is holding them back and needs to be replaced.
