Ange Postecoglou will be concerned about the form of Tottenham captain Son Heung-min.

After a shocking 2-1 Premier League defeat to Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (10 November), the mood in North London is bound to be low.

Therefore, the international break might have come at just the right time.

While for fans it will be painful to have to wait two weeks to see their team try and right their recent wrongs, for Spurs’ players, a change of scenery might be exactly what is needed.

Postecoglou will be hoping that his players return to North London fit and raring to go, and with a new-found confidence after some positive displays for their countries.

However, it looks as though Son might still be struggling from the hangover of the Ipswich defeat.

Tottenham star Son Heung-min struggles for South Korea despite reaching milestone

It has been a turbulent few weeks for Spurs’ captain with injury issues and off-field speculation over his future weighing him down.

And his recent performance for South Korea reflects a player who is not at his best.

Despite scoring a 50th goal for his nation in their 3-1 World Cup qualifying victory away to Kuwait at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Thursday (14 November), Son’s overall display left a lot to be desired.

The 32-year-old found the back of the net from the penalty spot, and while he did win that penalty himself, that was about all he did.

As per Sofascore, Son completed 88 per cent of his passes. However, none of those were key, while both of his crosses into the box were inaccurate.

In addition, he was successful with zero per cent of his attempted dribbles, failing with all six attempts.

Defensively he was just as poor, with the forward giving away a foul, winning just 20 per cent of his ground duels (two out of 10) and giving the ball away 14 times.

While his goal will dominate the headlines, a deeper look at his performance implies that there might be an underlying concern for Postecoglou.

Therefore, the Australian will be hoping for Son to turn things around when Spurs play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday 23 November.

In other Tottenham news, the club are interested in signing a £50million-rated Premier League defender.
