View: Ange to bench player with 44 apps in 23/24 - Predicted Tottenham XI v Leicester

Tottenham begin their Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Leicester City in a home game in North London on Monday, 19 August.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that his side can have the sort of start they did 12 months ago and continue for the rest of the season.

A top-four finish is likely what the board will demand from the Australian and with a few new signings made, he may look for some of his new arrivals to give him the edge.

Dominic Solanke to make full Tottenham debut

After an illustrious season in the Premier League in 2023/24 where he scored 19 goals, it was pretty evident that a big club would want to sign Dominic Solanke.

Spurs secured his services and Postecoglou is expected to put him straight in the playing eleven for this one.

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, two new signings, are however, unlikely to make it to the starting eleven for the opener.

While Gray made 44 league appearances last season for Leeds in the Championship, the Premier League is a completely different ball game.

Son, who scored 17 goals in the Premier League last season and provided 10 assists, is expected to be the talisman in attack alongside Solanke.

James Maddison, who made 28 league appearances in his debut Spurs campaign is likely to play as a number 10 against the Foxes.

Pedro Porro shone last season for Tottenham

Pedro Porro, who played 35 games in the league last term and provided seven assists and three goals is the undisputed choice at right-back.

The rest of the defence also pretty much picks itself and a lot will be expected from Micky van de Ven who had an impressive debut campaign in 2023/24.

The Dutch centre-back proved to be a goal-scoring option, finding the back of the net thrice in 27 league games and Postecoglou will be looking to exploit his aerial threat this season as well.
