View: Brand-new Tottenham Women signing to make the difference for Robert Vilahamn

Clare Hunt has the quality to help Tottenham Women push on during the 2024/25 campaign.

Robert Vilahamn will be keen to see his side progress after a positive first season in charge of Spurs.

And it looks as if the manager is getting some help from those higher up at the club, with Tottenham confirming via their official website (16 August) that they have signed Hunt from Paris Saint-Germain Women.

Hunt’s signing represents a very high-quality addition to the Spurs squad, with the defender boasting plenty of experience both at club and international level.

After seven seasons in Australia, Hunt joined PSG in September 2023 and featured 13 times in the French top flight, helping her side to lift the French Cup last season.

In addition to Hunt’s time with PSG, the defender has plenty of experience playing internationally with her native Australia.

She featured in seven games at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was included in the tournament’s All-Star XI after helping the Matilda’s reach the semi-final.

That experience at the highest level could prove crucial for Vilahamn as he looks to improve Spurs’ defensive record throughout the upcoming campaign.

Most recently, Hunt featured at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Games. Her quality was apparent during a 2-1 defeat to United States Women.

Despite the eventual loss, Hunt demonstrated her ability, completing 86 per cent of her passes, blocking six shots and making four clearances (SofaScore).

And if the 25-year-old – who has signed a deal with Tottenham which runs until 2027 – can continue to improve, she could become a key first-team player for Vilahamn.
