Manchester United have initiated contact with Lille defender Leny Yoro amid issues in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported on 21 June that United will not go back in for Branthwaite after an opening bid of £35million plus add-ons was rejected unless the Toffees drop their asking price.

Thus far, the Merseyside outfit have shown no signs of doing that, holding out for a £70million fee.

Sheth wrote on Twitter: “Manchester United have made initial contact with Lille over Leny Yoro. United working on several options in that position. No indication Everton will drop asking price on Jarrad Branthwaite.”

Everton will be delighted with the Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update

This is great news for Everton for several reasons as their firm stance on Branthwaite’s transfer fee indicates their confidence in the player’s value and their financial stability.

By refusing to lower the asking price, the Toffees signalled that they value Branthwaite highly and are not desperate to sell him.

This sends a strong message to other clubs that this is not a club to be taken advantage of in the transfer market.

Second, if Manchester United is indeed looking at other options, it could potentially increase the demand for Branthwaite in the future, as clubs may view him as a more valuable asset if other top clubs are interested in him.

Jarrad Branthwaite sale could benefit Everton finances

The Merseyside outfit’s financial situation could benefit from a potential transfer fee of £70million for Branthwaite.

This money could be reinvested in the club, either in the form of new signings or infrastructure improvements.

Branthwaite brings a lot to the table and while Sean Dyche will not want to lose him, he knows that every player has a price and it makes no sense to keep a disgruntled one at the club.

At just 21 years old, he is a promising young talent with a bright future ahead of him.

He has already shown great potential during his time at Everton, and his performances have caught the eye of top clubs like Manchester United.

He is a tall, left-footed centre-back with good technical skills and a strong aerial presence.

Whether or not he’s still at Goodison Park come the end of August, remains to be seen.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have now issued contact with their Premier League rivals to sign a midfielder who recently won the Champions League.
