Sean Dyche must axe Jack Harrison from his Everton starting XI before they face Southampton on 2 November.

The Toffees scraped a point from Saturday’s (26 October) 1-1 draw with Fulham at Goodison Park after Beto managed to net his first Premier League goal of the season in the closing stages.

While some of Everton’s players had decent performances, Harrison was arguably one of the worst players on the pitch.

The winger started the game but was hooked in the 68th minute for summer arrival Jesper Lindstrom.

While Harrison has been Dyche’s first choice on the flanks over the on-loan Lindstrom, that might have to change against Southampton due to the below-par performance he put in.

Everton should give Jesper Lindstrom a run in the first-team

The 2024/25 season is Harrison’s second consecutive loan deal that has allowed the Englishman to represent the blue of Everton.

While his performances last season were decent, his final third play this term has been underwhelming at times.

He’s played 11 games across all competitions thus far and hasn’t yet managed to chip in with a goal or assist for the Merseyside outfit.

With this in mind, it’s hard to see how Dyche can continue justifying starting the 27-year-old, especially when somebody with the talent Lindstrom has is just occupying a spot on the bench.

Granted, when called upon, the Denmark international hasn’t performed to the best of standards but it feels like he’d do a far better job than Harrison at the moment.

Dwight McNeil’s potential injury has also thrown a spanner into the works as he’s been Everton’s most creative force this season.

Only time will tell what Dyche will choose to do but, looking at the statistics and recent performances the former Manchester City man has put in, it feels like the 53-year-old would be silly to continue starting him on current form.
