View: Tottenham might already have Harry Kane replacement after what 20y/o ace did y'day

It is time for Ange Postecoglou to give Dane Scarlett an opportunity at Tottenham.

Scarlett has spent most of his career so far playing with Spurs’ Under-21s or out on loan.

He is yet to be offered a proper opportunity in North London, with Postecoglou so far limiting him to minutes off the bench here and there.

However, every time the striker goes away on international duty, he seems to find the back of the net.

And this time was no different.

Having been selected to represent the England Elite Squad this month, Scarlett captained the Young Lions to a 2-1 victory against Sweden on Friday (7 June).

Having once again got himself on the scoresheet, Postecoglou can no longer ignore the youngster’s form, especially considering one of the problems the Australian faces.

Spurs need a new number nine.

Richarlison is not a reliable long-term option and Son Heung-min isn’t getting any younger and is arguably better suited to playing on the left.

The club has yet to properly replace Harry Kane, but the good news is that they might not need to spend a fortune to do it.

Kane came through the ranks at Hotspur Way and established himself, so there is no reason why Scarlett can’t do the exact same thing.

In addition, it wasn’t until his early twenties that Kane made an impact in the Premier League, and Scarlett has only recently celebrated turning 20.

What this means is there there is still plenty of time for Scarlett to establish himself, but Postecoglou needs to allow him to do it.

Therefore, instead of spending big on a number nine this summer, perhaps the Australian would be wise to gamble on Scarlett and see what he can do with a consistent run in the first team.
