Visa issue emerges as Rangers agree new attacker transfer - report

Rangers still have to sort the “question” Hamza Igamane’s vias before he can complete a move to Ibrox, according to Foot Mercato.

Journalist Chris Jack reported via the Rangers Review (20 June) that the Moroccan forward has agreed a transfer to Rangers from FAR Rabat in a £1.5million deal.

Foot Mercato (20 June) also said the transfer is progressing well but did say there are still details between the two parties that need finalising, including the 21-year-old’s visa.

The striker’s contract also remains an outlier, and Philippe Clement will hope that those details can be finalised before Igamane potentially heads to Paris to represent Morocco in the 2024 Olympics [Daily Record].

Rangers close to first new striker in summer transfer rebuild

Injuries, form and impending departures have made clear that a centre-forward should be top of the transfer agenda for the Gers this summer, with Igamane – who scored seven goals and added six assists in 20 Botola league appearances last season – looking likely to add an option to the forward line.

Although only 21 and having never played at such a level before, Igamane’s form for Rabat does suggest he could have a part to play in the first-team picture at Ibrox next season.

Rangers Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement is on the hunt for new strikers at Rangers this summer.

Cyriel Dessers remains a doubt to be the Light Blues’ leading striker come August, due to both his high-profile misses in front of goal and an injury picked up in the Scottish Cup Final [Glasgow World].

Sam Lammers also has a question mark next to his name when he returns to Glasgow from a free-scoring loan spell at Utrecht, and it remains to be seen if he’ll be given another chance by Clement [Craig Moore].

It’s doubtful that Igamane will be the immediate answer to Rangers’ striker woes, but coming from an environment few players in the Premiership have experience in, he has the potential to be a wildcard option for Clement going forward.

In other Rangers news, one first team player at Ibrox is now engaged in talks over a transfer away.
