SFA now open to Rangers agreement as Ibrox saga erupts - report

The SFA are open to allowing Rangers to use Hampden Park for their home games in August while Ibrox undergoes work, according to the Daily Mail.

Writing on their website (20 June), the news outlet reported that the national stadium will be available for the start of the domestic campaign despite reports claiming it is out of action [Andy Newport, 20 June] after getting the pitch relayed later this month.

And while no talks have been held yet between the Rangers hierarchy and the SFA, an agreement is possible after Ibrox was made unavailable until September after delays in the works on the Copland Road Stand [Andy Newport, 20 June].

Hampden Park obvious choice for Rangers amid Ibrox shambles

It’s an absolute embarrassment from Rangers’ point of view that the team will have to start the season away from Ibrox and hurts their reputation massively.

It would be even worse, however, if the club were forcing fans to travel outside of Glasgow for home games as a result of their issues, and that means that if Hampden Park is available they have to use it.

It’s the obvious option to go with considering it’s the national stadium, has a slightly bigger capacity than Ibrox and is still relatively local for fans to get to to support their team.

While it’s not home and it’s not Ibrox though, it would still provide a ‘home’ advantage for the Champions League qualifiers the team are hopeful of hosting and would also allow home league games to be played too.

Anything that isn’t Ibrox or Hampden will be a stupid decision from the board and will show that fans are not at the forefront of their thoughts, so this should be straightforward for everyone involved.

In other Rangers news, the club will be forced to pay a fee after Ibrox saga emerges according to Chris Jack.
