Rangers sack senior staff member - report

Rangers have sacked a senior member of staff at the club, according to Andy Newport.

The Daily Record writer reported via X (20 June) that the Gers will need to decamp from Ibrox for the first month of the season as a result of delayed works at the stadium.

This has left the Rangers board “hugely angered” and has resulted in a senior member of staff being sacked.

The Gers are now working hard to find an alternative venue for the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.

Rangers find themselves in a mess after delayed works at Ibrox

This is an incredibly messy situation and it is therefore no surprise that a staff member has lost their job due to the shambles.

While it is fantastic that the club have committed to improving the disabled section in the Copland Road Stand, these works shouldn’t have resulted in the entire stadium being compromised for the beginning of the season.

As a result of this development, the Gers have been left with several issues.

First and foremost they will now lose out on home advantage for their UEFA Champions League qualifying fixtures.

Ibrox is an intimidating ground to visit and the wonderful support of the Rangers faithful often gives the players on the pitch an advantage.

They must now look to reach the group stages of the Champions League without home support.

In addition, the club looks likely to miss out on a significant chunk of revenue.

As a result of the works, there will be a few fixtures played away from Ibrox, which means the club will miss out on potential revenue from these matches.

It is not an ideal situation for Philippe Clement or his players and the Gers board will need to find a solution as soon as possible.

In other Rangers news, a player has agreed a four-year contract at Ibrox with his move to be completed next week.
