WATCH: Super Falcons captain Ajibade reveals newly acquired skill after Nigeria’s Paris Olympics exit

Rasheedat Ajibade, captain of the Nigeria women’s national team, has found solace in learning to play the piano following Nigeria’s disappointing exit from the Paris 2024 Olympics, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ajibade was pivotal in securing Nigeria’s qualification for the Olympic Games, scoring the decisive goal in the two-legged playoff against South Africa. This achievement marked Nigeria’s return to the Olympics after a 16-year hiatus.

Despite high expectations following their impressive performance at last year’s World Cup, where they reached the knockout stages, the Super Falcons struggled in France.

They lost all their group-stage matches against world champions Spain, South American champions Brazil, and Asian giants Japan, failing to advance to the quarterfinals.

With the disappointment of the Olympics behind her, Ajibade has turned her attention to developing a new skill: playing the piano.

She shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing her progress after just one week of lessons.

In the video, she sings several popular religious songs of praise and worship, captioning it:

“Need to get back to my piano class ????????….this was me after 1 week of learning. Praise the Lord! Praise God in his Temple! Praise his strength in heaven!”

Ajibade, who was named Club Atlético de Madrid Féminas’ Player of the Season last term, will soon shift her focus from music back to football.

Her club begins its preseason programme next week. Atlético de Madrid Féminas are set to play a friendly match against INAC Kobe Leonessa on August 14, followed by a UEFA Women’s Champions League clash with Rosenborg on September 4.
