John Wenham expects Cristian Romero to return and start for Tottenham against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose thinks the centre-back must start against the Tractor Boys seeing as he has been selected for international duty by Argentina.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (10 November), Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Romero has “a chance” to feature (via Football London, 8 November).
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects the Argentina international to start alongside Radu Drăgușin.
“If he has been called up for Argentina, then he has to play on Sunday,” Wenham said.
“We can’t have him sitting out a league game where we need him and then he goes off to play for his country. Therefore, hopefully, he is available to play, and if he is, he will start that game.
“I’d expect him to partner Drăgușin, with Ben Davies reverting to the bench.”
Cristian Romero to start for Tottenham v Ipswich Town?
Drăgușin was blasted for his “horrendous” mistake against Galatasaray in the UEFA Europa League at RAMS Park on Thursday (7 November) as Spurs were beaten 3-2.
It was a night to forget for the Romanian. Therefore, he will be as hopeful as anyone that Romero starts on Sunday.
Drăgușin is likely to play much better with Romero alongside him. As a result, Postecoglou will also be desperate to get his starting choice defender back.
Spurs could climb as high as third in the Premier League this Sunday by beating Ipswich Town. Therefore, fans are unlikely to accept anything less than three points.
In other Tottenham news, Jamie O’Hara has been left stunned after a jab was aimed at Lucas Bergvall.
