Wenham urges 'Fantastic' Tottenham loanee to 'bide his time' after recent fan frustration

John Wenham has urged Tottenham gem Jamie Donley to “bide his time” amid recent struggles while on loan at Leyton Orient.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has detailed frustration among fans over the 19-year-old’s recent lack of playing time, after what was such a bright start to life on loan with Leyton Orient.

Donley has started just one of Leyton Orient’s last six matches in all competitions. He was a second-half substitute as the O’s lost 3-1 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup (17 September).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – was in attendance for Donley’s cameo against the Bees.

“I’ve noticed some Tottenham fans are frustrated about his lack of playing time recently,” Wenham said.

“However, Donley will just need to bide his time. When I saw him come on against Brentford, he was their best player on the pitch by a mile and caused real issues for a Premier League team.

“When the opportunity does arise, I’m sure Donley will take it with both hands because he is a fantastic player.”

Tottenham gem Jamie Donley must be patient amid lack of minutes at Leyton Orient

This is Donley’s first real experience of senior football. Therefore, there are bound to be a few ups and downs along the way.

As a result, fans must be patient, and allow Donley the time to work his way through this blip.

Having started three consecutive EFL League One matches after arriving at Leyton Orient, his recent lack of starts is no doubt a concern. However, one man who is unlikely to be concerned is Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

There is plenty of time for Donley to turn things around and get back in the team, and this will be seen as a much-needed challenge for the Spurs gem.

Should he overcome this obstacle, he will be a much better player for it.
