'Must be serious' - King concerned about big-name Tottenham star after announcement today

Bryan King believes Son Heung-min’s injury must be “serious” after the Tottenham star was dropped from the South Korea national team.

The ex-Spurs scout hopes the 32-year-old isn’t out of action “long-term”.

As reported by the Korean Times (4 October), the Korea Football Association have announced that Son has been dropped from the South Korea national team for the upcoming international break.

Tottenham News has reached out to Spurs for an update on Son but it seems the club are unable to put a timescale on his return at this time.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes fans will need to be patient as they wait to discover the extent of the injury.

“Hopefully this isn’t a long-term injury,” King said.

“However, when you have a player of his quality, it must be pretty serious if he hasn’t gone away with the South Korean national team.

“We will have to wait and see exactly what the state of that injury is.”

Ange Postecoglou has Son Heung-min injury concern at Tottenham

Son is a key player in North London. Therefore, this latest injury will be a worry for Postecoglou, especially considering the existing issues he already has in that area of the pitch.

The Spurs captain rarely misses a game for South Korea. As a result, the fact that he has been forced to withdraw suggests the injury issue is a concern.

However, it might also come as a welcome boost for Postecoglou as it will offer the 32-year-old a much-needed rest over the coming weeks.

Therefore, it looks unlikely that Son will be available for the trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton on Sunday (6 October) – a match in which Postecoglou has another injury concern.

However, after his break over the coming weeks, the Australian will be hopeful of Son making a full recovery in time for the visit of West Ham to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (19 October).

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has been urged to act as a Guglielmo Vicario concern emerges.
