West Ham Exclusive: Big Jhon Duran update tonight

Jhon Duran’s proposed move from Aston Villa to West Ham is “in limbo” after the latest negotiations, sources have told Football Insider.

Villa have rejected a player-plus-cash bid which would have seen Irons youngster Lewis Orford head to the Midlands club.

Football Insider revealed last week (26 July) that Duran has agreed to a £90,000-a-week deal with West Ham.

However, it is believed the two clubs are still some way apart in their valuations of the 20-year-old as the 31 August transfer deadline draws closer.

Sources say the deal is “in limbo” at present but Villa and West Ham remain locked in talks with both sides hoping a compromise can be reached.

The Irons are desperate to bolster their attacking options this summer after struggling for goals up front in the 2023-24 campaign.

Duran has been identified as a top target despite his struggles at Aston Villa since joining in January 2023.

Duran deal ‘in limbo’ after West Ham terms agreed

The Midlands club are reportedly investigating the young striker after he crossed his arms to make an ‘Irons’ gesture on social media amid negotiations with West Ham.

He has admitted he hopes “something concrete happens” this summer after struggling to break into the first eleven at Villa.

Duran, 20, made 37 appearances across all competitions for Unai Emery’s side in the 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals.

However, the forward started in just 10 of those outings with Ollie Watkins one of the first names on the teamsheet for Emery.

West Ham currently have Danny Ings and Michail Antonio on the books in attack as Julen Lopetegui prepares to start his era at the London Stadium.
