What Ange Postecoglou did to the travelling Tottenham fans after their loss away to Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024/25 campaign is turning out to be a hugely underwhelming one with another defeat added to their record.

Ange Postecoglou saw his side lose their sixth game in the Premier League in a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Thursday night.

Paul Merson did not expect Tottenham to beat Bournemouth and he was proven exactly right by the dismal showing from the north Londoners.

It really has been disappointing for Tottenham who showed some signs of promise in their first season under the Australian.

Naturally, frustrations were high at the end of the game and Postecoglou took it into his own hands to try and calm down the away fans.

Ange Postecoglou confronts Tottenham fans after Bournemouth loss

Postecoglou lost his temper last week with Brennan Johnson against Roma but he had to deal with the visiting fans on Thursday night.

Spurs dropped down to tenth spot in the Premier League table after losing against the Cherries who actually leapfrogged them in the table.

It is only normal for the players to thank their travelling fans after an away game, but Postecoglou took it a step further in trying to calm the frustrations.

Injuries have plagued Tottenham this season with Postecoglou admitting Sergio Reguilon could return to the squad if needed.

But it seems as if the patience of those Tottenham fans who made the trip to the south coast may well be beginning to wear thin.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham fans are rightly annoyed

The results have not been good enough for Spurs this season with one point taken from their games against Crystal Palace, Fulham, Ipswich Town and Bournemouth.

Speaking to the media after the game, Postecoglou admitted that the fans who made the journey have every right to be disappointed.

“The fans were disappointed and rightly so,” he said.

“They gave us some direct feedback which we’ll take on board. (When asked what it was) It’s not something to be said in here.”

Merson also warned Postecoglou about not getting the results, and it certainly seems as if the honeymoon period is over.
