'Word inside the club is...': Journalist shares why Liverpool haven't signed anyone for Arne Slot yet

Liverpool are yet to make any summer signings just yet and with just weeks to the season there’s a sense of frustration among some fans at the moment.

Despite being linked with a number of players and Arne Slot being in place for more than a month now, it’s all pretty quiet when it comes to incomings.

Of course, with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes in place, there is a feeling that Liverpool are well placed to make signings if they decide to.

Liverpool are known for being meticulous in planning and execution on transfers.

And explaining what has been going on behind the scenes at Anfield, journalist Nizaar Kinsella revealed that there’s method behind the lack of signings.

Why Liverpool are yet to sign anyone this summer

Writing for the BBC and explaining Liverpool’s thought process in the market, Kinsella has revealed that there’s a feeling of being careful around the club right now.

“There is a belief both inside and outside the club that all these figures are exceptional hires, but a lack of transfer activity so far this summer has left some supporters frustrated,” Kinsella writes.

“Word inside the club is that they are being careful not to disrupt the fine-tuned group built by Klopp and the calibre of player needed is so high that there are only a few options in world football that would improve the squad.”

Who have Liverpool been linked with?

A number of players have been mentioned so far for Liverpool.

The main name that keeps cropping up is Newcastle United winger, Anthony Gordon. The England man is believed to fancy the move and it isn’t being ruled out.

Beyond Gordon, England teammate Marc Guehi is another who could be targeted, while defender Willian Pacho is another to get a mention.

Finally, Adam Wharton is another who has been looked at by Liverpool as they plan for the future.

Quite whether the Reds get any of the names mentioned here, remains to be seen.

But it seems there is some thought behind not going for anyone just yet.
