Tottenham beat Aston Villa 4-1 at the weekend in what was a characteristic Ange Postecoglou performance.
Indeed, Spurs perfectly executed Postecoglou’s gameplan on Sunday as they played an exciting, attacking brand of football, overloading the opposition.
However, one player did something rather uncharacteristic on Sunday.
Indeed, Heung-Min Son is known as one of the nicest people in football, but he showed a different side of his personality at the weekend as he expressed his disappointment at being substituted in the second-half.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Darren Bent has been discussing Son’s reaction to being substituted, and he says that he was surprised by how the Spurs captain reacted, claiming that he’d never seen that sort of attitude before.

Darren Bent surprised by Heung-Min Son reaction
Bent spoke about how Son reacted to being subbed off against Aston Villa
The pundit says that he never sees that attitude from Son, and that he’s usually such a good role model at Spurs.
“The second-half, when it comes to decisions like taking Son off, Son was not happy, I know there have been injuries, but that’s not something he was warned about. There were big decisions in that game, and early substitions, but they went for it,” Kelly Cates said.
“It was certainly a standout statement with the performance. The big decision was to take off Son, but I understand it with the injuries. You never see that kind of attitude from Son as well, he’s such a role model for that football club as well,” Bent said.
What is Heung-Min Son like?
It was a surprise to see Son react like this to this substitution, as he’s known as one of the nicest people within football.
Dominic Solanke has called Son one of the nicest people in the game, while Danny Rose has also hailed Son’s personality.
Meanwhile, Archie Gray has also said how great Son is behind-the-scenes.
“Son has been helping us, helping us with everything, especially us two (himself and Bergvall). He’s always looking after the squad. Everyone knows he is a great role model, he’s such a nice guy and always nice to everyone. Someone like that in the squad is priceless, for him to be captain is amazing. I can’t thank him enough,” Gray said.
This was out of character from Son, but it just goes to show that even the most level-headed of individuals can experience some level of professional frustration at times when things aren’t going the right way.
Son wasn’t happy at the weekend, but this is unlikely to be a long-term issue for the attacker.
