Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Spurs are closing in on an agreement following further discussions with their Premier League rivals in the last hours.
Tottenham are trying to negotiate a fee for the 26-year-old that is lower than his £65million release clause and are hopeful of doing so.
Ange Postecoglou wants to sign an orthodox number nine before deadline day to properly replace Harry Kane for the forthcoming season.
Solanke is said to be interested in moving to Spurs, and it’s believed he would be a good fit for their style of play.
Tottenham see Dominic Solanke as a solution to their striker problem
Last season, Postecoglou used Richarlison and Heung-min Son in the number nine position, but neither managed to deliver.
Solanke could solve that issue, especially after coming off his personal best season in the Premier League.
The Bournemouth forward was the joint fourth-top goalscorer in the division last season with 19 goals.
The Brazil international could end up heading out of the club if a deal for Solanke is agreed.
In other news, Tottenham to accept Manor Soloman offer.
