The Scottish newspaper, via its website on 29 July cited a L’Equipe article on the same day which claimed that a £6.7million bid has been made by the Ligue 1 side and an agreement is close.

Gers needed to open their purse strings to sign the 23-year-old Portuguese winger [Record, 29 July] but it now seems like he will not be moving to Ibrox.
