'A lot of talk': What Thomas Frank now thinks about Ivan Toney leaving, after Tottenham links

Ivan Toney has been one of the most talked about players in this summer’s transfer market, with Tottenham interested in signing the striker.

Spurs are still eyeing Toney even after spending £65m to sign AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, with Tottenham seemingly keen on adding even more firepower to their attacking ranks.

With Arsenal offered the chance to sign Toney this summer, it’s clear that Brentford have been open in periods during the window to offload their star forward, who next year will become a free-agent when his contract expires.

And manager Thomas Frank has now shared what he thinks about Toney leaving this summer.

Frank confident Toney will stay at Brentford despite new Tottenham links

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Danish manager gave his verdict on Toney staying with the west London side, with Frank confident that the England international will remain with Brentford beyond deadline day.

Whilst Tottenham seem the most likely club to sign Toney, the recent arrival of Solanke could postpone this move well into 2025, with the Brentford man seemingly expected to depart at the end of this season.

Frank said when asked about Toney’s future and if the striker will be leaving before the end of the transfer window: “There’s been a lot of talk about Ivan in the last few years, but the last six months has been about if he’ll leave this summer.

“So far he’s still a Brentford player, so I think we’re getting closer and closer to him staying at Brentford, so I’m getting more excited because he’s a top player. I love working with Ivan, we have a fantastic relationship, and I think he’ll be a Brentford player after deadline day.”

Toney remaining at Brentford could be the best for everyone

Toney has proven to be a hard player for Brentford to sell this summer even with his incredible goalscoring record in the Premier League and homegrown status.

Yet with Frank now confident that the striker will remain with the Bees this month, the forward staying put in west London could prove to be the best decision for everyone this summer.

Indeed, Toney could prefer having a pick of his clubs next summer once his contract is up, and whilst Brentford miss out on a big payday for the striker, Frank and company might be pleased to see the media circus surrounding the attacker finally come to an end.
