After Euro 2024 exit, Arne Slot should go all out to sign winger who Pep Guardiola called 'incredible' - opinion

After exiting the European Championships, Liverpool should now go all out to sign a winger who’d be perfect for Arne Slot.

The Slot era is underway and transfer plans will be being drawn up behind the scenes ahead of the fast-approaching Premier League campaign.

After finishing third place last term, the onus will be on the Dutchman to challenge for the league title but to do that, he’ll need three of four top-level additions.

With that said, Liverpool should go all out to sign a special winger on the continent.

Liverpool should try to sign Leroy Sane

Mohamed Salah is expected to remain at Liverpool this summer despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The club are planning to rebuff any offer for the Egyptian winger but at some stage, he’ll need replacing especially considering he has a year left on his deal.

So, the perfect successor should be brought in this summer to have a year working with Slot before becoming the talisman.

That man is Bayern Munich wide player Leroy Sane, who Pep Guardiola hailed as ‘incredible’ during his spell at Manchester City, as per the official website.

Sane, a left-footed right winger, would be perfect for Slot’s system and with Premier League experience under his belt already, it should be a seamless transition.

The 28-year-old has one year left on his Bayern contract so he’ll likely be available for a discounted fee this summer.

Leroy Sane statistics

Sane, who featured at Euro 2024 with Germany, netted 10 times whilst laying on 13 assists for Bayern last term.

The former City man operated on both wings, evincing his terrific versatility – which would lend itself well to The Reds.

If Liverpool do land Sane, he’d be ready-made to become the main man at Anfield if Salah was to depart next year.
