Agents circle around 'Overpaid' player, Everton ready to sign him - report

AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham is attracting interest from several agents with Everton pushing to sign him too, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition [31 July, page 2] that the Serie A club are demanding £21million for the striker, who is deemed to be “overpaid” in Italy.

It is understood that the 26-year-old is open to a Premier League return, according to Corriere della Sara [17 June], having left Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

Everton set to face transfer battle for Tammy Abraham

The striker position looks to be the next area of concern for Sean Dyche after the defence was reinforced by the signing of Lyon’s Jake O’Brien.

While Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit a purple patch towards the end of last season, finishing the campaign with seven league goals and likely saving the Toffees from Premier League relegation, his overall performances were not up to scratch.

Although the striker seems to have gotten over his injury concerns, he has been unable to stamp his mark properly on the pitch, leading to many fans desperate for a new forward.

Beto is clearly not the answer, having notched just five goals since signing from Udinese last summer, and Abraham could solve the problem instead.

His prior experiences with Chelsea and Aston Villa should have given him enough quality to lead the line for the Toffees, especially proving himself with the Blues after returning from his Villa Park loan spell.

He netted 30 times in 79 matches at Stamford Bridge before making the switch to Serie A. Even with a mixed spell in Italy, he has still managed to score 37 goals in 119 appearances.

The forward could add some much-needed firepower to Dyche’s team. Only Sheffield United scored fewer goals in the Premier League last season.

In other Everton news, Boulaye Dia is likely to seal a transfer as the Toffees work on brand new deal.
