Ajax winger a 'Concrete' Deadline Day target for Everton - report

Ajax winger Carlos Forbs was a “concrete” target for Everton on Deadline Day but looks set to join Wolves, according to De Telegraaf.

The Dutch newspaper reported on its website on Friday (30 August) that Lyon and Fulham were also eager to sign Forbs before 11pm.

However, the winger is said to be closing in on a €13.5million (£11.4m) move to the Toffees’ Premier League rivals Wolves instead.

Everton likely to miss out on new winger

As reported by Joe Thomas for the Liverpool Echo [30 August], Everton would “love” to sign a new winger to round off their summer business.

However, with a little over two hours of the window to go, that is now looking increasingly unlikely.

Links with Forbs have gone under the radar up to this point, so it will be interesting to know just how eager Everton were to sign the wide player.

Given the relatively small fee, and the fact two other Premier League sides were in for him, Forbs would have been a good signing.

Unless Kevin Thelwell is working on something behind the scenes, though, that looks like it will be it as far as the Toffees’ summer activity goes.

Thelwell will now get the chance to see Forbs up close for Wolves in the Premier League. Hopefully, it does not prove a case of that one that got away for the Toffees.
