Everton are looking to strengthen going forward this summer with the acquisition of a new winger, according to Alan Myers on social media.

Myers posted on X [7 July] in response to a supporter question regarding any imminent transfer activity, stating the club are in the market for a wide player.

The news editor also acknowledged that the takeover deal at the club will still take a while to be completed.

Myers shared in his post: “Takeover remains ongoing, will be a while yet. Work going on for a winger at the moment.”

Everton are looking to strengthen to ensure they do not find themselves in the threatening position they were in until a positive run towards the end of the season, meaning even their eight-point deduction ultimately gave them no relegation fears like the previous campaign.

Whilst Myers did not drop any names, the Toffees are eyeing a variety of forward players, such as in-demand Hull City ace Jaden Philogene and Watford youngster Yaser Asprilla, who has starred at the Copa America for Colombia.

Everton lost Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa last week in a £10m switch, whilst Arnaut Danjuma has returned to Villarreal from last season’s loan.

The club have so far this summer made two first-team signings: striker Iliman Ndiaye for £15m from Marseille, and a £9m move for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, while Jack Harrison has again returned on loan from Leeds United.

Dyche and the recruitment team at Goodison Park do have the takeover distraction in the background, but will be far from finished with their transfer business.

In other Everton news, the club are set to meet Dan Friedkin’s Roma in a pre-season friendly.
