Alan Myers makes Philogene transfer admission as Everton work on new transfer

Alan Myers has admitted that he doesn’t think the winger Everton are working to sign this summer is Hull City star Jaden Philogene.

The Toffees have been linked with the 22-year-old throughout the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting they have managed to meet the Tigers’ demands with the decision now lying with the player [Fabrizio Romano, 6 July].

Many assumed Philogene was the target when Sky Sports journalist Myers revealed the Blues were working to secure a new winger, but he has suggested Sean Dyche’s side are looking elsewhere.

Replying to a fan on X on Sunday (7 July) who asked: “Philogene?…” Myers replied: “I don’t think so,” before adding: “I may be wrong but let’s see.”

Will Everton sign Hull City star Jaden Philogene in the summer transfer window?

Myers doesn’t exactly seem to be confident that this new target isn’t going to be Philogene, but it is very rare that he gets anything wrong when it comes to Everton’s activity during transfer windows both in and out of Goodison.

Although the Hull City star would be an excellent addition to Dyche’s attack this summer, he would represent a bit of a gamble for the Blues given his lack of experience in the top flight throughout his short career.

Partner that with the fact several other Premier League clubs are eager to secure his signature which will only drive his price tag up further and it seems as though this would not be a straightforward deal to complete.

Hopefully, some more clarity will emerge on Merseyside sooner rather than later over who this mystery winger actually is. Whoever they are, hopefully, Everton will be able to get their man without another club swooping in at the last minute.

With a couple more quality additions this summer, Dyche will have a side more than ready to begin climbing back up the Premier League table next season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could be set to command a fee of £100million for Jarrad Branthwaite next summer
