Alan Myers shares what he has been told about Iroegbunam to Everton transfer

Alan Myers has stated that there is “nothing to report” over Tim Iroegbunam’s potential move to Everton this summer.

The Athletic reported [18 June] that the Toffees are in advanced talks to sign the 20-year-old Aston Villa midfielder, with personal terms not expected to be an issue.

However, Myers’ recent update would suggest that the move is not nearly as close as others have reported, taking to X on Wednesday (19 June) to share his thoughts.

“I’m told nothing to report on that at this point, but who knows?” he wrote.

Are Everton about to join another transfer saga this summer?

Considering the amount of interest and constant rumours circulating Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana at Goodison Park, fans will be desperate for the club to complete a simple deal.

Branthwaite has already been the subject of a low-ball offer from Manchester United, while Onana has expressed his desire to leave the club for a bigger European side.

Iroegbunam has shown plenty of promise since breaking through into the Villa first team under Unai Emery, though he would unlikely be able to fill the Belgian’s shoes just yet.

With just 15 appearances for the Villans, he is certainly a prospect for the future that Sean Dyche can nurture, so it will be interesting to see where this transfer link goes this summer.

To understand his real potential, the club will need to look back at his 2022/23 season-long loan at Queens Park Rangers, where he made 32 appearances, scoring twice and picking up seven yellow cards.

If Myers has nothing to report on the potential transfer, it will be one that fans will need to keep an eye on throughout the summer transfer window, watching out for any movement.

Reports surrounding Iroegbunam have seemed very positive, with a simple move to Merseyside potentially on the cards, but Myers’ update may just cause a little more frustration at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in signing a Manchester City player this summer, who has yet to make his debut under Pep Guardiola.
