Ange Postecoglou isn’t having the best of times at Tottenham right now.
Tottenham sit tenth in the Premier League, and Postecoglou’s start to this season is very reminiscent of Nuno Espirito Santo’s start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Nuno was sacked after picking up 15 points from 10 games, and after picking up 16 points from 11 matches, it would be fair to assume that Postecoglou is under similar pressure.
However, according to Dan Kilpatrick, speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, there isn’t much suggestion that Postecoglou is under any immediate pressure.
Indeed, according to Kilpatrick, all of the noises coming out of Tottenham suggest that Spurs are accepting of the fact this is a medium-term venture and the Postecoglou project may take time.

How Tottenham feel about Ange Postecoglou
According to Kilpatrick, the noises coming out of Spurs suggest that Postecoglou isn’t under pressure just yet.
Indeed, Spurs have more of an eye on the long-term rather than the here and now, so they’re not overly worried about the coming situation.
“So I don’t know what Levy and the board are thinking. To be honest, I think all the noises from the club, that they sort of accept that this is a medium-term venture. I mean, they’ve talked about being successful in the here and now, but they’ve also talked about building a squad, that they want to be successful in four or five years time,” Kilpatrick said.
“And that’s been obvious in the age profile of the players they’ve signed, the three teenagers over the summer, two more coming next year. So I think that there is a kind of commitment to see this through, or at least keep saying where it goes. But again, I can understand anyone associated with Spurs who’s losing a bit of patience or getting frustrated.”
Postecoglou compared to other Tottenham managers
Tottenham are willing to keep the faith with Postecoglou, but it has to be said that the Australian is very fortunate to be in such a position.
Indeed, Postecoglou isn’t faring all that much better than his predecessors, and he’s somehow being given much more job security by the same board who quickly sacked many managers before.

It’s not as though Postecoglou is this young, up-and-coming manager either, he’s 59 years old and he doesn’t have the reputation behind him that someone like Jose Mourinho had as a proven winner at the top level.
Tottenham believe Postecoglou is the right man for this job, and while it’s good to see Daniel Levy having more patience with his managers, you can’t help but feel for the other Spurs bosses who weren’t given the same sort of treatment.
For now, Postecoglou’s job is safe.
