‘Crazy’: Pundit says Arsenal should’ve paid over £100m to sign ‘old school’ player, he wanted to sign

Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League title appear to be fading.

The Gunners are already nine points adrift of the league leaders Liverpool, and after picking up just two points in their last four games, Arsenal’s title credentials have been questioned.

Gary Neville still believes Arsenal could win the league, but the Gunners clearly have a few issues.

Many said that Arsenal needed a new striker in the summer, but, for some reason, the Gunners decided against going in this direction.

Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Mark Schwarzer has been discussing Arsenal’s striking woes, and he says that the Gunners should’ve signed Victor Osimhen in the summer.

Arsenal should’ve signed Victor Osimhen

Schwarzer says Arsenal should’ve signed Osimhen, claiming that the forward is a top-class player who would’ve been worth the excessive transfer fee.

Indeed, Schwarzer says that Arsenal should’ve paid over £100m for Osimhen.

“The one player for me was Victor Osimhen. I felt like I obviously saw him play for Galatasaray against Tottenham. His numbers were crazy in Serie A,” Schwarzer said.

He is a proper, proper. I mean, I really enjoy watching him.

“He’s like a proper old school number nine, but flair and pace and eye for goal, and could have had at least four or five against Tottenham. But the issue is, do you pay 120, 130 million Euros? I mean, I suppose they did it with Declan Rice, didn’t they?”

Osimhen stats this season

Arsenal were in for Osimhen at one point this summer.

Osimhen apparently wanted to join Arsenal at one point, but, sadly, Arsenal withdrew from the Osimhen race towards the end of the transfer window.

In fact, Osimhen’s top-level options completely dried up at the end of the summer, hence why he had to find a loan move to Galatasaray.

Ultimately, Osimhen is way above the standard of the Turkish Super Lig, and that is reflected in his stats this season.

Osimhen has been banging in the goals this season, and as Arsenal struggle in front of goal, it’s hard to argue that the forward wouldn’t have been a serious asset to the north London club.

It would’ve been an expensive deal, but perhaps Arsenal should’ve made this move in the summer.
