Report: £150,000-a-week Liverpool player is now unhappy under Arne Slot, expected a different role

Very few people associated with Liverpool are unhappy right now.

The Reds are top of the Premier League – having won nine and drawn one of 11 outings so far this season – while Liverpool are also top of the UEFA Champions League with a 100% record after four games.

Goals are flying in, with Liverpool netting 21 in 11 Premier League games and ten in four UEFA Champions League outings, while the backline is also keeping opponents at bay with only seven conceded across both competitions.

However – despite the many positives – Federico Chiesa is not happy at Anfield.

Why Federico Chiesa is uncomfortable at Liverpool

A story from Inter Live now states that the Italy international expected a more prominent role under Slot, and is currently feeling dissatisfied on Merseyside.

The Italian news outlet believe Chiesa aimed to reestablish himself as a talismanic figure for Italy after sealing his £10m move from Juventus to Liverpool back in August, where he penned a deal worth £150,000-a-week.

However, after just 18 minutes of Premier League football, the 27-year-old is allegedly becoming a bit agitated, with Inter Milan monitoring his situation.

Inter Live believe the Italian giants cannot afford to sanction a permanent deal to sign Chiesa – who Gianfranco Zola admires – so they are only considering a loan for the man born in Genova.

Arne Slot should consider a temporary exit for Federico Chiesa

Stories like this should always be taken with a pinch of salt – especially as Chiesa is only weeks into his Liverpool career, and Slot is hardly going to disturb a winning XI to get the Italian involved.

After all, Alisson said Chiesa seemed delighted to be at Liverpool back in September.

However, if the Liverpool No.14 really is unhappy at Anfield, the Reds should consider a loan.

There would be little risk in sending Chiesa to a club like Inter Milan on a temporary basis while the likes of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota hold down the fort on Merseyside.

Should Chiesa star on loan and rediscover the form which made Juventus spend £54m on his signature back in 2020, Liverpool would either have a top talent at their disposal when he returns, or a valuable asset who could secure them a huge profit on that initial £10m investment.
