‘That’s ridiculous’: Chris Sutton can’t get his head around what he’s heard about Man Utd’s Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United put in arguably their best performance of the season at the weekend as they beat Leicester City 3-0.

The Red Devils, for the first time in a long time, put in a professional and assured Premier League performance.

However, as always, some of the headlines around this game weren’t about United’s performance.

Indeed, there’s always some sort of sub-plot bubbling away at Manchester United, and on Sunday, Alejandro Garnacho made a point by not celebrating the third goal of the game after recently receiving some stick from fans.

Via Goal, Bruno Fernandes explained why Garnacho didn’t celebrate after his goal.

“Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans,” Fernandes said.

“I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

“I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference-makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn’t going to happen.”

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has shared his verdict on this situation, and he says that it’s simply ridiculous that Garnacho chose not to celebrate.

Chris Sutton reacts to Alejandro Garnacho non-celebration

Sutton says that it is ridiculous that Garnacho didn’t celebrate.

Indeed, the pundit was bemused by the idea that the Argentine wouldn’t celebrate a goal due to the treatment he has received from his own fanbase.

“And also, did you hear this, Rob? Steve Crossman mentioned this earlier. According to Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho didn’t celebrate the third goal because he feels the fans have lost a little bit of faith in him. I think that’s ridiculous, the whole thing,” Sutton said.

Garnacho’s recent message to fans

It’s interesting to hear that Garnacho believes fans are losing faith in him.

Indeed, Garnacho seemingly does have the backing of his supporters. In fact, the winger’ last tweet was a message thanking fans for voting him as the Player of the Month for October.

There’s a lot to say about Manchester United supporters and how they can treat their players, but Garnacho has largely had the support of the Old Trafford faithful.

If anything, it’s Garnacho’s teammates who are getting frustrated with him.

Casemiro was recently spotting having a real go at Garnacho during a game, but fans have largely been right behind the attacker.

Let’s hope that Garnacho can start feeling the love of the fanbase again soon, because it’s never nice to see a player slightly at odds with his own supporters.
