Ally McCoist slams ‘unacceptable’ moment in Rangers 1-1 Tottenham at Ibrox

Ally McCoist couldn’t believe an “unacceptable” moment that happened in the Rangers versus Tottenham contest.

Spurs were held to a share of the spoils at Ibrox [12 December] as Ange Postecoglou endured a difficult evening on his return to Glasgow.

Speaking live on TNT Sports [12 December, 8:30pm], McCoist slammed a piece of defending from Rangers in the 1-1 draw as they halted a Rodrigo Bentancur counter.

He said: “That’s pressure. It’s closing down and not giving people time on the ball. It’s unacceptable, but that’s what it is.”

If Postecoglou was not under pressure at Tottenham heading into the clash against Rangers, he will be now after another poor performance at Ibrox.

The Glaswegian outfit have struggled to keep pace with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic this term and have made Spurs look like a League Two side at times.

Ibrox certainly played its part on the night; the visitors crumbled under a volatile atmosphere in Scotland and were second-best in almost every exchange on the night.

Tottenham only forced Jack Butland into one save throughout the opening 45 minutes, and the second half offered little more – this was not a performance befitting of a side vying for a top-eight finish in the league phase.

Dejan Kulusevski spared the visitors’ blushes with his 75th-minute equaliser, but that didn’t take away from the poor display all-round for Spurs, particularly from Timo Werner, who failed to justify his inclusion in the starting lineup at Ibrox.

Postecoglou has serious questions to answer at Tottenham after yet another lacklustre performance.
