'Amazing to watch': Micah Richards says Mo Salah does one thing better than anyone in the history of the PL

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is taking the world of football by storm once again this year and Micah Richards believes the Egyptian is doing one thing better than anyone he’s ever seen.

Salah scored and set another few up yesterday as the Reds dispatched West Ham United with ease.

Salah has now his the 30 goal contribution mark for the season before the new year is even here and with his contract situation no closer to being resolved, Liverpool fans are nervously awaiting news.

However, when it comes to simply enjoying him for the player he is, former Man City defender Micah Richards is right up there at the head of the fan club.

And discussing Salah’s ability as a forward, Richards has claimed he has one attribute that’s better than everyone.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Richards was waxing lyrical about the performance of Mo Salah.

And in an interesting point of note, Richards believes that Salah is one of the best ever when it comes to timing his runs in behind defenders.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Salah could have scored probably five goals today. You know, he had a few chances, didn’t he?,” Richards commented.

“He missed it a few, but I think it’s Salah’s intelligence as well. You know, we talk about his dribbling and his finishing and his work rate and his mindset, but his movement is one of the best I’ve ever seen in the Premier League. He times his run perfectly every single time.

“He’s just on the cusp of being offside, but he manages to stay in line with the last defender. It’s amazing to watch.”

When you look at the stats alone just this season, Mo Salah simply has to be in the conversation to be crowned the world’s best player.

To score 20 goals and have double figures in assists at this stage of any season is quite remarkable.

However, as always, Salah is humble and focussed when it comes to individual awards and Salah spoke of his thoughts on the Ballon d’Or after the West Ham win.

“The only thing in my mind, to be fair, is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that. That’s the only thing I’ve really focused [on] since the beginning of the season. I will do my best for the team to win trophies,” Salah said on Sky.

“We are in the right direction but of course, there are a few other teams really trying to catch up with us and they are very good teams. We just need to stay focused and humble, work hard and just go again.”

If Liverpool do win the league and do far in the Champions League, then Salah might well win it without even thinking about it.

Right now, he’s one of – if not the – best player in the world.
