Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in new faces if they can in January and one of the players being linked with a move to the club is Man City and England midfielder, Jack Grealish.
Grealish has had a frustrating season for City and like many at The Etihad, has struggled to find his best form and had niggling injury problems.
However, that doesn’t mean there is a lack of interest in Grealish as a player.
TBR Football understands that Grealish is indeed a player who Tottenham admire. Indeed, we understand Spurs have liked Grealish for some time now and consider him a player who can improve their team.
But like most of City’s squad, there are issues when it comes to signing him.
The two issues preventing Tottenham from signing Jack Grealish
As mentioned above, Tottenham very much like the idea of bringing in a seasoned international player like Grealish to the club.
However, TBR understands that there are two major stumbling blocks which could prevent any deal from being done.
One of the problems for Spurs is that Grealish is on a huge contract at City and TBR understands that he is now one of the very top earners at The Etihad.
Furthermore, there is also the issue of getting Grealish to move south. It’s understood that Grealish is more than settled and happy in the north-west, making Tottenham’s task to sign him even harder.
Why Jamie Carragher feels sad watching Jack Grealish
Man City paid £100m for Jack Grealish and ultimately, he played a key role in helping them win the treble.
However, he has definitely dipped off in form and stature within the squad in recent times and Jamie Carragher has admitted Grealish is a tough watch right now.
Speaking after City played United a few weeks back, Carragher lamented Grealish’s form.
“The first goal actually comes from Grealish, turning down an opportunity to run at Bruno Fernandes, you know from the corner it comes from.
“And you look at certain players, you almost think at times Pep is that in control of them, I mean, how can you criticise Pep Guardiola? It’s almost like that they lose a little bit of that something.
“And Thierry Henry made the point last night that he played in that position for him for Barcelona on the wing, he said he’s telling you what to do, he’s always behind you.”
“But sometimes, you’ve just got to [go], no, I want to do this! You know you’ve got to feel it yourself and I think it is sad watching Jack Grealish in a Manchester City shirt.”
