Celtic new boy Arne Engels has returned to the club after receiving a suspension for Belgium’s game against France on Monday (September 9).
The 21-year-old central midfielder completed his record £11million move to Celtic from german club Augsburg late on transfer deadline day.
Engels received his first call-up to the Belgium first team following the move but is now set to serve a one-game suspension despite never receiving a card for his country.
During the qualifying for next year’s Under-21s European Championship, Engels picked up two yellow cards that have now been carried over to the first-team.
This is due to a little-known UEFA rule that stipulates Engels must serve his suspension now, as the Belgium senior team’s game against France falls within 48 hours of the Under-21s game against Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

Engels’ only appearance for new club Celtic came as a substitute in their 3-0 demolishing of Old Firm rivals Rangers.
The current Scottish champions currently sit top of the Scottish Premier League table, winning all four of their games so far without conceding a goal.
The Belgian was joined by defender Auston Trusty and fellow midfielder Luke McCowan in what was a busy transfer deadline day for the Glasgow club.
Once the international break is over, Brendan Rodgers’ side will face Hearts at Celtic Park on Sunday, September 15th, as they seek to continue their unbeaten streak.
In other news, Celtic fans shocked by ‘nightmare’ Alistair Johnston injury news.
