Arsenal could now open contract talks with winger Leandro Trossard, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 September) that Saudi side Al-Ittihad came forward with a last-gasp bid of around £30million for the 29-year-old on the final day of their transfer window.
It was revealed that the bid was rejected – with Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta having no intention of losing the winger outside of the English window.
Trossard is under contract until June 2026 and could be in line for a new deal following his impressive Gunners form.
Sources say the Belgium international is still seen as a key for Arsenal despite Raheem Sterling arriving on a season-long loan from Chelsea on deadline day.
The 29-year-old contributed 19 goals and assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last term.
Arsenal weigh up new contract for Trossard after Saudi interest
He has often been deployed as a super sub and started just 25 of those outings last term.
Trossard has already opened his account in the new season, scoring in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa last month.
He earned his first start on Saturday (31 August) in the 1-1 draw against Brighton.
Arsenal have recently wrapped up extensions for the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Jorginho.
Arteta is also in line for a new contract and has confirmed he is likely to extend his stay at the club.
In other news, “surprise” new Raheem Sterling details emerge.
