Arsenal eye late move for new winger but will only make offer on one condition
The Gunners want one more fresh face.
Arsenal are eyeing up a late move for a new winger before the summer transfer window closes on Friday, but they’ll only sign him on one condition.
The Gunners have a number of top class wingers in their ranks, including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but they’re keen for a new option.
Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday night that Fabio Vieira has joined Porto on a season-long loan but it is thought that they still need to free up more room.
That’s according to The Telegraph – who report Arsenal are in the market for a winger before the window closes – but that it’ll depend on ‘further outgoings’.
They claim that Reiss Nelson has been put up for sale, which may allow Arsenal to recruit a new winger if they are able to sell him in a permanent deal first.
Nelson, 24, has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs this summer including Fulham, West Ham and Leicester City.
Should he move over to Craven Cottage, Nelson would link up with his former Arsenal teammate Emile Smith Rowe.
Nelson came through Arsenal’s academy but has never managed to truly cement himself in the XI, instead spending time out on loan at Hoffenheim and Feyenoord.
‘Reiss Nelson… He needs to be playing regularly now,’ former Arsenal striker Alan Smith said in June.
‘From Arsenal’s point of view, it is an advantage because these youth team players can command good fees.
‘As we know, with the financial regulations, [they] are regarded as pure profit because they came through the academy.’
Nelson has played 90 games for Arsenal to date, conjuring up eight goals and nine assists.
He was handed Arsenal’s Goal of the Season award in 2022-23 for his last-gasp winner against AFC Bournemouth.
