Arsenal fans are furious after 'insulting' Mikel Arteta claim

Arsenal fans were unimpressed after Sky Sports’ Saturday Social drew comparisons between Mikel Arteta and former manager Unai Emery.

One of the pundits claimed Emery, 52, is “Closer to Pep Guardiola than he is to Arteta” and that it’s “Insulted to compare the two”.

Arteta, 42, currently has his side sitting in third place, just one point off Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table and below Man City by virtue of goal difference.

Emery has carried last season’s momentum into the current campaign, with Aston Villa once again in the conversation for Champions League qualification, sitting in fifth, level on points with Chelsea.

The two faced off in their second Premier League goal of the season, with Arteta getting the best of his fellow Spaniard thanks to goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey.

Arsenal fans leap to defence of Mikel Arteta

The current Arsenal boss has only been managing since 2019, winning an FA Cup in his first season in charge at the Emirates.

Emery’s trophy cabinet is a little more impressive, totaling nine major trophies won during his time with PSG, Sevilla, and Villareal.

Still, Arsenal fans took offence to the comparison, and took to X, formally known as Twitter, to vent their annoyance.

Arteta's Arsenal will wipe the floor with every team Emery has managed in his career so far.
