Leeds fans savage Patrick Bamford after shock confession

Leeds United fans have savaged Patrick Bamford after the 31-year-old striker admitted he wanted to leave the club last season.

Speaking to the 72+: The EFL Podcast on 9 October, Bamford revealed how he wanted to leave the club after the 2022-23 campaign due to his wife being frightened by cars being outside their home.

Bamford said: “I wouldn’t say it ever made me want to hang the boots up and finish football, I’ll know when the time is right for that, but at a point, when I knew my family wasn’t comfortable here, being honest at that point, I wanted to leave.”

The striker has played for the Yorkshire giants since 2018 and has made 203 appearances, scoring 69 goals in the process.

After deciding to stay, Bamford has made 15 league starts where scored eight goals.

The former England international has struggled for game time this season due to injuries, which have restricted him to just four appearances in this campaign.

Leeds United fans are furious with Patrick Bamford

Even though Bamford had legitimate reasons for wanting to walk away from Elland Road, his admission has not been well received by fans.

Supporters have claimed that he backtracked because other teams didn’t want to sign him, while others claimed “he is not a Leeds man.”

Won't blame anyone for wanting to leave somewhere where them and their family dont feel safe however I think his last big contract and fact he's injury prone may have helped his decision.
