Arsenal are clearly on the lookout for another striker, and the in-form Bryan Mbeumo is being targeted by the North Londoners.

Brentford’s on-fire front man is also apparently wanted by Newcastle, and with good reason.

So far this season, only Man City ace, Erling Haaland, has outscored him (per BBC Sport), with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer only ahead of him in the ranking stats because of the assists he’s made in 2024/25, as both he and Mbeumo have six goals in eight games.

Liverpool were linked with a summer move for Mbeumo, however, this didn’t materialise, no doubt owing to the change in manager at Anfield.

With three goals in the opening minutes of games this season, two of which came from Mbeumo, Brentford have set a new Premier League record.

Arguably, that ability to be in the right place at the right time is what’s piqued Arsenal’s interest in signing the 25-year-old.

Football Insider note that it’s his versatility which has encouraged the Gunners to pay more than just a cursory look at Mbeumo.

Given that he would be expected to cost far less than other potential targets, it would also make financial sense for the club to explore the move too.

It isn’t clear if any bid will be forthcoming in January, however, having an out and out striker whose currency is goals on a regular basis would surely be of benefit to Arsenal’s title aspirations.

Arteta will have seen quite clearly what his side were lacking again, this time against Bournemouth, and there’s a cogent argument that the need for Mbeumo is an urgent one.

The next couple of months should be a reasonable guide as to what priority the North Londoners given to Mbeumo’s hire and, ultimately, whether he becomes the man to help land some long overdue Premier League silverware.
